The Mavic Ksyrium SL Disc wheelset – light, stiff and durable

The Mavic Ksyrium SL Disc Center Lock is a disc-brake compatible wheelset for ambitious road cyclists. During its development, significant emphasis was placed on weight savings. It also scores highly for stiffness, dynamic handling, and durability. The Ksyrium SL is based on 19 mm wide aluminum rims that can be used without tubes. This results in advantages such as greater puncture resistance, lower rolling resistance, and an even lighter wheel. Rotating at the center are hubs with self-aligning bearings and optimized spoke retention, each equipped with 24 butted straight-pull spokes at the front and rear. Special rim bed technology eliminates the need for tubeless rim tape.

Manufactured exclusively for Mavic, this lightweight and strong aluminum alloy offers a higher strength-to-weight ratio than conventional 6106 aluminum. Maxtal rims are 30% stiffer and weigh less than other aluminum rims.

SUP

SUP stands for Soudé Usiné Process and creates a significantly more stable and smoother rim joint. This is welded and then milled to create a uniform braking surface. SUP eliminates any braking judder and facilitates wheel lacing and truing.

ISM 4D

The ISM 4D (Inter Spoke Milling 4 Dimensions) milling process not only noticeably reduces weight and inertia without compromising durability. This exclusive Mavic patent also improves aerodynamics with its innovative rim profile. ISM 4D rims are up to 50 g lighter, thus offering enhanced climbing performance. Their minimal inertia leads to maximum acceleration. Their extra aerodynamic rim profile results in significantly lower air resistance.

Infinity hub design

Mavic's Infinity hubs enable contactless lacing, which eliminates noise under load. This design is also lighter, stiffer, and easier to maintain. Often, only one spoke length is needed per wheelset, ensuring optimal spare parts availability.

QRM Car

QRM Auto stands for Qualité de Roulements Mavic Auto and is Mavic's latest bearing innovation. These industrial bearings with C3 internal clearance are double sealed. Their bearing clearance is automatically adjusted to ensure consistently smooth running without any play.

Instant Drive 360

The Instant Drive 360 ​​freehub system is super lightweight and provides fast engagement with an engagement angle of just 9° (road) or 15° (MTB). A large, non-contact rubber seal reduces friction.

Fore Tapeless Tubeless

Instead of a conventional rim drilling, the inner rim base is pressed inward in a single operation and provided with a thread into which the spoke nipples are screwed directly. The outer rim base remains intact. This results in a stiffer and stronger wheel, and rim tape is eliminated, which also means weight savings.
